Project Manager
Job Description:
HP Software is seeking highly motivated, technical and results oriented individuals for a Project Manager position. These individuals will have or be exposed to a broad range of technology (specifically with HP Software products) and have the ability to implement them in various customer environments including business critical Web, ERP/CRM, J2EE and .NET environments. These individuals will ensure and deliver knowledgeable, successful, and reference-able customers by delivering top-notch solutions and implementations with the HP Software suite of products.
Responsibilities:
Delivering PSO Consulting Engagements. The Consultant will drive HP Software PSO consulting engagements to successful completion at the client environment. The engagements typically consist of requirements analysis, solution design, implementation, trainings, knowledge transfer, and customer mentoring/consulting. This will involve only using one or more of the HP Software products and methodologies in delivering high quality implementations. The Consultant will help manage customer expectations during the implementation, address issues if possible, and escalate them if necessary. The consultant will be responsible for providing solution for all potential requirements using professional services to their clients covering some focused consulting on a part of or complete picture of HP Software's BTO (Business Technology Optimization).
Requirements:
1. Project Related Competencies
· Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
· Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
· Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
· Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.
· Effectively applies our methodology and enforces project standards.
· Prepares for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures.
· Minimizes our exposure and risk on project.
· Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
· Tracks and reports team hours and expenses on a weekly basis.
2. Business Development
· Identifies business development and "add-on" sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project.
· Leads proposal efforts including completing project scoping and assessments.
· Effectively conveys our message in both written and verbal business development discussions.
3. Communication
· Facilitates team and client meetings effectively.
· Holds regular status meetings with project team.
· Keeps project team well informed of product changes and new release/ launch.
· Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors.
· Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.
· Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
· Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
4. Technical Understanding
· Possesses general understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design.
· Understands Internet, Intranet, Extranet and client/server architectures.
· Possesses a thorough understanding of our capabilities.
· Maintains awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential application on client engagements.
5. Client Management
· Manages day-to-day client interaction.
· Sets and manages client expectations.
· Develops lasting relationships with client personnel that foster client ties.
· Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.
· Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
· Builds a knowledge base of each client's business, organization and objectives.
1. Desired Skills/ Experience:
· 10+ years experience in Enterprise Management Systems.
· Project Manager experience of J2EE or .NET technology
· Strong technical expertise on scripting programming fundamentals, relational databases and their use in information systems and "client/server" and "web" architecture/paradigm
· 3-4 years of professional services Implementation/ Consulting experience on HP Software BTO products.
· System/Network administration experience. Exposure to system and network administration issues on Windows and/or UNIX a plus.
· Pre-Sales & Hands-on experience with other EMS tools such as Tivoli, Netcool, Unicenter would be desirable.
· Technical BS degree or equivalent in Computer Science, or Computer Engineering
· 50% Travel availability. Must be able to perform significant travel.
