Data OS Test Lead

 Position Description:

* Nokia's Data OS team is building a first generation shared data platform for Nokia's consumer facing services. This is a critical path technology that will be responsible for all data related operations within the data center, as well as will service as the primary data platform for Nokia's software services. To say that the Data OS is at the center of Nokia's services future is an understatement. The Data OS will need to scale to support hundreds of thousands (and perhaps millions, ultimately) of transactions per second, while simultaneously guaranteeing data's fidelity and constant availability. This is not a small undertaking, are you up for the challenge?

Key Resposnsibilities/Skills:

* Nokia is looking for a strong 'Test Lead' to join the Data OS team. Responsibilities of the role include: Participating in and/or leading test planning and strategy across the Data OS; broadly reviewing Data OS feature areas for comprehensive and holistic test coverage; providing guidance and support to (as well as driving) functional and non functional requirement testing (performance, stress, scalability, privacy, security, high availability and reliability, globalization, topology testing, etc.) across the Data OS; defining, leading, and guiding program wide test automation and tool investments; identifying, driving, and participating in various program wide test engineering initiatives.
* A 'Test Lead' position requires equivalent technical competencies to those found in a 'Software Engineer in Test' role. A 'Test Lead' must also be a strong leader of both people and technology. A 'Test Lead' must demonstrate strong software and test engineering competencies: broad and holistic approach to problem domains; a desire to understand how things work; pride in high quality engineering/artisanship; a strong command of programming and system level software fundamentals; a drive to test the limits of software. A 'Test Lead' is a highly technical and creative role. It is also very hands on. The 'Test Lead' will be responsible for making individual test engineering contributions in addition to leading test engineering initiatives.
* Successful candidates are able to demonstrate a strong grasp of systems and platform programming fundamentals, communicate clearly, effectively deal with ambiguity, demonstrate software and test engineering competencies, and have a track of record of leading as well as successfully shipping commercial and/or production software products.

Mandatory Skills:

• Technical competence, proficiency in Java, C#, and/or C++. Our development is predominately in Java
• Technical proficiency in systems and platform level development (threads/pools, sockets and protocol, creating API's, etc.)
• 5+ years minimum experience in developing and shipping commercial/production software, over multiple ship cycles
• 3+ years minimum experience managing and/or leading software development or software quality assurance efforts and teams
• Prior experience with test engineering tools, automation development
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate, coordinate with partner teams located both domestic and international
• 'Can -do' attitude, passion for technology, strong communication skills, clear leadership aptitude

Desirable Skills:

• Experience/competence in LAMP stack technologies (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP), HTTP, REST
• Experience with 'Utility Scale' software services, software that scales to support hundreds of millions of users
• Experience with software test engineering practices, tools, and processes
• Experience with Agile software development practices and processes

 • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or any related Science/Engineering field.
